From Corporate to Creative
For years (25+) I have prioritized building a career in banking and that set the tone for my way of living. That looked like hours spent on video conference calls, business review preps, packing a luggage on a Sunday night, back home on a Thursday. Too many hangers filled with black blouses, black slacks and black skirts.
Art found me in 2017 and became a daily ritual to keep me grounded, to slow down, and quiet my ever busy mind. I took local mixed media classes, online recorded or live sessions, read books and magazines, any tutorial for drawing, painting and so much more. My body was starved for creativity, color and the joy of the moment.
What began as a stress free outlet- has slowly become a meaningful part of my everyday existence. This transition feels necessary to my being, bold in the face of walking away from how ‘success’ has been defined in society and yet my body can only walk towards what is calling my presence.
The corporate chapter has closed.
Now, I get the privilege to choose what makes my heart feel alive- CREATING ART.
Inspired everyday, there is so much room for growth and it feels like an adventure I have no choice but to pursue.
A friend shared this the other day and it resonated with me,
‘I felt the fear and did it anyway’.
